So as I've been working to get this shop set up, I've been faced with some decisions that have been remarkably easy for me to make, but that also may be considered to be particularly stupid by some marketing experts.
You see, I have the option to:
- Have you sign up for marketing emails and immediately email you with a discount for a purchase
MY SOLUTION: I use the shop banner to share a discount code and free shipping for your entire order. These are one-time use codes but they can be combined.
- Send an email to you to give a gentle nudge if you have 'abandoned' your shopping cart
MY SOLUTION: I will do nix, nada, nuffin. I know what it's like to be on a budget, to be interrupted when trying to shop for a special surprise, etc.. I trust that if you 'abandoned' your cart, you had a good reason.
- Send an email to you to gently remind you to complete your purchase if you bailed out before hitting 'pay.'
MY SOLUTION: Same as above.
Instead of doing exactly what annoys me about online shopping, I am approaching sales and marketing differently.
